Alcopa Auction offers you the option to buy a used car in an auction centre without being physically present at the auction. Indeed, you can instruct Alcopa Auction to issue an absentee bid for the used vehicle of your choice on your behalf during the auction. This is possible in each of our 7 auction centres (Beauvais, Paris Sud, Rennes, Nancy, Tours, Lyon and Marseille).
Consequently, as the vehicle passes, the auctioneer will place your bids on your behalf. Taking into account the maximum amount that you have quoted (the auctioneer is the only person aware of the amount), he will place the bids in competition with those placed in the auction room.
Example: Your absentee bid is €5000 incl. of tax and the opening bid is €4500 incl. of tax. If the best offer in the room stops at €4600, the auctioneer will bid up for you at €4700 and the vehicle is sold to you. Given that it is a physical sale, the buyer's premium must then be added to the hammer price. This premium is 11% excl. of tax, i.e. 13.20% incl. of tax (with a minimum of €360 incl. of tax, i.e. €300 excl. of tax) + €125 incl. of tax for private individuals.
The 3-stage process for issuing an absentee order is as follows:
1. Create an Account or Login
2. Once the account has been validated, you need to sign up to an auction sale to place an absentee bid. A deposit, which the amount corresponds to the type of vehicle, will be requested while the registration. This is not a payment and your card will not be debited while this transaction.
Note: The registration to an auction sale not only allow you to place an absentee bid before the auction, but also to bid directly online at the same time as the buyers in the auction centre via our Alcopa Auction platform. As soon as your registration is validated, you can bid on all the vehicles in this auction.
3. You can browse the vehicles(s) on the online catalogue and make your selection up to 15 minutes before the auction.

4. If your offer is the winning bid, the amount required while the registration will then be debited in the form of a deposit; the remaining amount of the invoice will be payable before delivery of the vehicle. If your bid is lower than the winning bid and you do not win the vehicle, no transaction will be recorded.
Good to Know
An absentee bid can only be cancelled or modified up to 15 minutes before the auction.
Your absentee bid is the maximum winning amount that you are prepared to pay. If the vehicle is sold at a lower price, this is the price that will be applied for the payment.
